Leader Optec
Leader Optec Case Study | Procurement Reporting Transformation
The Situation
Leader Optec is a UK-based fibre optic specialist, providing British-manufactured connectivity solutions, including patch panels and cabinets for data and fibre management. As part of their ambition to elevate the business and underpin their long-term growth strategy, the leadership team recognised the need to improve visibility across procurement operations and mitigate risk. To support this next phase of growth, Leader Optec partnered with Pro Outsourcing to review existing procurement processes and internal capabilities, delivering actionable insights through accessible, data-driven reporting that would empower the team to make informed, proactive purchasing decisions aligned to their 3-5 year strategic roadmap.
The Transformation
Pro Outsourcing successfully secured a fully funded work package through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), enabling the delivery of a comprehensive transformation programme. Key elements included the design and implementation of bespoke procurement reports, directly extractable from Leader Optec's SAGE system and configured to provide intuitive, dynamic visual dashboards, alongside the development of On Time In Full (OTIF) performance data tables using monthly downloaded data to create clear visual outputs for faster, more accurate performance analysis. These enhancements enabled the purchasing function to transition from reactive to insight-led, empowering the business to identify risks and opportunities in real time.
The Result
Leader Optec now benefits from a complete suite of procurement reports and interactive graphical representations, offering full visibility of purchasing trends and supplier performance KPIs. This allows for quicker trend identification, improved supplier negotiations and targeted cost-saving initiatives as the business scales. Pro Outsourcing also contributed strategic recommendations, including dual sourcing opportunities to reduce risk and increase supply chain resilience, initiatives to address slow-moving and obsolete inventory to unlock cash and improve working capital, and procurement strategies designed to support sustainable, long-term growth.
